Projects I’m proud of

Judgment is at the core: deciding what’s good, what matters, and what deserves to be published. I question every step and cut what doesn’t work. Every project I’m proud of reflects my goals.

  • Published You Are AI's Best Friend From Olives to Algorithms: A Human Guide in hardcover, paperback, and ebook on June 30, 2026, running editorial, rights, production, and the launch campaign with only freelance help.
  • Built a working AI automation that checks older adults' protein intake, using Make and gpt-4o-mini, through fourteen tested prompt versions, with every figure checked against primary sources.
  • Wrote The Memory Book: One Woman’s Self-Discovery in the Mist of the Austro-Hungarian Monarchy, a memoir reviewed by Booklist, Foreword Reviews, and the journal Hungarian Cultural Studies.
  • Reported for Fairchild and Dow Jones Newswires.
  • Wrote dozens of press releases as a publicist, for clients including Indecomm Global Services, R&M International, and Sababu Safaris.
  • Founded Minted Prose, an independent press in New York, now in business for over 20 years, and published seven books.
  • Negotiated a Hungarian-language rights deal for The Memory Book through Katai & Bolza Literary Agents in Budapest.

You Are AI's Best Friend From Olives to Algorithms: A Human Guide

By Philip Fischer, PhD, with Linda Marie Fischer

A plain-language guide to living and working alongside AI. I published it under Minted Prose and ran it end to end: editorial, copyright registration, ISBNs and pricing across hardcover, paperback, and ebook, Amazon A+ content, and a launch campaign reaching financial advisors, real estate professionals, policy audiences, and book clubs.

An AI protein check for the age we all get to (71+)

A working automation that checks older adults' protein intake, built with Make, gpt-4o-mini, Google Sheets, and Gmail. The prompt went through fourteen versions, including a deliberate rollback at version ten when a later change made the output worse. I ran each version as a test and kept only what the results supported.

Every nutrition figure was checked against primary sources: USDA ARS, WHO Technical Report Series 935, ESPEN 2014, Janssen 2000, and the Dietary Guidelines for Americans 2025 to 2030. The seven-file submission was verified down to the character before it went out.

The Memory Book: One Woman’s Self-Discovery in the Mist of the Austro-Hungarian Monarchy

By Linda Fischer

In a Budapest antique store I found a young girl’s memory book, kept from 1906 to 1919 and written in a Hungarian I couldn’t read. The memoir follows my years-long search to learn who she was and the world she grew up in, and what that search changed in me.

Reviewed by Booklist, Foreword Reviews, and the journal Hungarian Cultural Studies. Hungarian-language rights sold through Katai & Bolza Literary Agents in Budapest.

About the book

Reporting · 1987 to 1999

Fairchild and Dow Jones Newswires

I covered kitchen appliances as a reporter and senior editor for many years for HFD and then supply chain and logistics for Supermarket News. At Dow Jones Newswires, I wrote about capital markets, including municipal bonds.

How I work

Customers are first, always

I have a background in UX and believe in customers first. I am most curious how they view the project. That is the driver of everything in my view. Customers.

People and the phone, relationships

With solid research and a clear pitch, a cold call opens doors an email never will. Much of a book's outreach can start that way.

Cut what doesn’t work

Editing is mostly deciding what to leave out. I apply the same test to processes as to sentences: if a step adds nothing, it goes.

Check to be sure

A newsroom habit. Every figure in my capstone traces to a primary source, and every claim in a Minted Prose book is checked before it prints.
